What is a Kindle?
Despite the popularity of the Kindle eReader from Amazon.com, I still manage to get puzzled looks when I mention my Kindle are eBooks. So if you found this page, to answer your question, a Kindle is an eBook reader (eReader). This means that you can read eBooks directly on the device like a portable digital book. Amazon first introduced the first generation of its Kindle in 2007. They now offer multiple models of their Kindle including the standard model, the DX model, the Wi-Fi only model, and a new reduced price model of the Wi-Fi that displays paid advertisements as screen savers instead of the traditional screen savers of famous authors through time.
Some of the features of the Kindle is as follows:
High Contrast E Ink Screen which results in less eyestrain than competitors
Holds up to 3,500 books
Download books onto your Kindle within 60 Seconds
Built-In Wi-Fi and some models offer free 3G service
Enhanced PDF Reader
Free download of first few chapters to sample Books
Now supports Audible audio books
