How can I put eBooks not from Amazon on my Kindle?
The easiest way to transfer eBooks that you have downloaded on your computer is to hook your Kindle up to your PC or MAC via the USB cord and jack.
All you have to do is plug in cord like seen above to your Kindle’s USB charge port and plug the other end into your USB cord on PC or MAC. This will also charge your kindle but you will unable to use the Kindle or Kindle features unless you go to your control panel under “Computer” section then right click on Kindle device icon. This will produce a drop down menu which you need to select “eject”. This will allow you to share content or use Kindle’s features while it is plugged in to the computer.
Now that you are all plugged in and ready to go, double click on the Kindle device icon in your folder. This will pull up a folder screen of subfolder and files you have already on your kindle. Unless you want to delete content from your kindle or transfer files from kindle to your computer, you don’t need to worry about messing with those right now.
Now also open the destination folder where you have saved your downloaded eBooks. Most computers will save to a “downloads” folder unless you specify something different. When you find the files that you want to load onto your Kindle, you just have to simple click their icon or file name and drag into the Kindle folder as a destination. Voila! It will copy the eBook directly onto your Kindle within seconds to a minute depending on how many files you are dragging at same time or the size of the files.
Once the files are done transferring, you can unplug Kindle. Check to make sure everything transferred the way you want before you shut the folders open on your desktop. Every once in awhile I find a file or two I missed and it’s easier to check now than come back later and redo.
That’s it! You should be ready to read your newly uploaded eBooks immediately. I store most of my eBooks on my computer as 1. I have too many and 2. the more eBooks you have in memory on your kindle, the slower it can move. I hope this helped. I’m not really technical and I got it after the first time or two.
Happy Reading!!
